Modulab, Metz

Irma Kalt, Luc Doerflinger, Sandra Plantiveau

Founded in 2011, the Modulab gallery in Metz welcomes artists and collectives from the emerging French or foreign scene whose approaches question the field of drawing, installation and multiple. Its aim is to promote contemporary creation and to encourage encounters between artists, curators, art critics, publishers, institutions, our partners and the public.

Modulab strengthens and brings together in this collective project the skills, operating methods and tools necessary to make the work of emerging artists visible. In addition to its exhibition programme in its premises, the gallery develops and collaborates on numerous projects outside the gallery walls: in institutional contemporary art venues, but also in interstitial and offbeat spaces. Since 2015 the gallery has participated in fairs in France and abroad (Drawing Now Art Fair, Art Paris, Luxembourg Art Week, SOON Paris…).

Modulab also publishes and distributes artists’ multiples in the form of portfolios and prints. These editions are regularly acquired, particularly from the French and Belgian art libraries. Over the years, the gallery has refined its artistic project and aims to maintain a real presence in the Grand Est region as well as at the national and cross-border level (Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany).

Today, its aspiration is to support and publish the artists it accompanies by promoting their work in public collections.
