With Plastic Newspaper, Lucy McKenzie (a Scottish artist born in 1977) revisits the major themes that have shaped her work over the past five years: statuary, fashion and window display, feminist critiques of power and elites, craft, leisure, and mass media.
The exhibition presents a wide range of paintings, sculptures, posters, trompe-l’œil, sets, and garments. Lucy McKenzie explores the formal and cultural inventions that have contributed to transforming everyday life into a permanent spectacle—echoing painted panoramas, spaces of art, science, and entertainment where playful experience and the massification of the gaze converge.
Plastic Newspaper is Lucy McKenzie’s first solo exhibition in France.
