Musée Regards de Provence
Regards de Provence – La sélection du public
FromApril 2, 2025 to February 15, 2026
From December 2024 to February 2025, visitors were invited to vote for three works from a selection from the Regards de Provence Collection, in order to choose those they wanted to (re)discover. The paintings that received the most votes are thus brought together in this exhibition, illustrating a collaborative and inclusive dynamic.
To define some lines of interpretation within a selection that is, by its very nature, necessarily eclectic/heterogeneous, the exhibition is organized around a few major themes. This artistic and historical journey through part of the collection reveals landscapes of Marseille, the Mediterranean coast, and the Provençal countryside. The emphasis is on the diversity of styles and movements, from naturalist landscape painters to Fauvist and Expressionist colorists, while also including contemporary works.
Laurent mattio, Peindre la lumière
From March 25 to September 28, 2025
The Regards de Provence Museum presents the exhibition “Laurent Mattio, Painting Light,” dedicated to this Provençal painter (1892-1965), whose dazzling work demonstrates a rare mastery of drawing, color, and light. Through more than 150 paintings, watercolors, and drawings, the artist’s career reveals his deep attachment to the Mediterranean and its territory, between Provence and distant shores.
This major retrospective in Marseille unveils the full richness of his work, offering a vibrant immersion into the world of an artist for whom light was much more than a subject: it was an absolute quest.
