Olivier Deprez. “WREK

From May 17 to September 22, 2024

Olivier Deprez

Curated by Clément Nouet

Olivier Deprez presents the exhibition WREK in the graphic arts cabinet of the Musée régional d’art contemporain Occitanie. The title refers to the artist’s new book, a multilingual variation on the notions of “work” and “process”, presented for the first time on the occasion of his exhibition. WREK extends and deepens the woodcut narrative, but adapts it to the aesthetics of the digital age and the culture of remixing and recycling it has spawned.

“Fortuna”

April 6 to September 22, 2024

Group exhibitions

Curated by Clément Nouet and Raphaël Zarka

The exhibition is labeled a Cultural Olympiad by the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games Organizing Committee with the aim of bringing art and sport into dialogue.

The Fortuna exhibition brings together more than 25 artists of different generations (from Sophie Tauber Arp, born in 1889, to Lina Hentgen, born in 1980) and nationalities. It offers a reflection on forms in the space marked by skateboarding. Numerous items are addressed, including line, friction, wear, curve, trajectory, trace, movement, right angle, geometry, accident and verticality, always in close relation to space. Fortuna does not respond to chronological data, but proposes formal, stylistic, aesthetic or processual comparisons with a diversity of works and media (paintings, drawings, videos, sculptures, installations…).

Group exhibitions

Curated by Clément Nouet

Every year, the Mrac takes the opportunity to completely revamp its display, offering a new variation on its collection of over 560 works. The latest acquisitions are unveiled through an itinerary that moves away from traditional groupings and offers a dialogue between works by artists of different generations, providing a new perspective on the museum’s collections. The display is not chronological, but rather offers formal, stylistic and aesthetic comparisons with a diversity of works (paintings, drawings, photographs, sculptures, installations, etc.), enabling visitors to discover some of the leading artists on the contemporary scene.
