2016

Meessen De Clercq, Brussels

For ART-O-RAMA 2016, Brussels-based gallery Meessen De Clercq will present a solo show by Chaim van Luit.

Chaim van Luit is an artist, although he was also in the navy for four years. This atypical career has allowed him to sail many seas and appreciate the concept of vastness. As an artist, he now explores blank spaces and probes places rich in silent memories: wasteland, caves, subway corridors among others. One could say that he has a constant urge to reveal whatever is hidden, concealed from view. Chaim van Luit has had solo exhibitions in Amsterdam with tegenboschvanvreden and at P/////AKT as well as in the Bonnefantenmuseum, Maastricht (The Netherlands) and at the Workshop Gallery in Beirut (Lebanon). His work has been shown in group exhibitions in Belgium at the Royal Museum Of Fine Art Antwerp (KMSKA) and the Palais Curtius in Liège, in Germany with Rudolf-Scharpf-Galerie/ Wilhelm-Hack-Museum in Ludwigshafen and in The Netherlands at the Jan van Eyck Academie, Maastricht, where Chaim van Luit previously studied. In 2016 Meessen De Clercq is showing his solo exhibition “Stealth of a Parrot”.
