Mécènes du Sud presents Kèmè-Kème by Delphine Gatinois
[1985, FR] Lives and works in Reims, 2018 laureate
Delphine Gatinois is interested in centuries-old equilibria that have been disrupted by modernity, whether they are found in commerce and trade or in the agricultural world from which she comes. Her long-term projects are based on personal experiences in France and abroad, notably in Africa and South America. She addresses notions of heritage, customs, transmission, and exchange. Based on a systemic vision centred on economic power dy-namics, she provides an understanding of the matrices within which society and individuals navigate, develop, and adapt. Delphine Gatinois conjures up images, sculptures, drawings, and ceramics from the politi-cal complexity she confronts. Set in transitional spaces, they can alter the realities she de-rives them from. It is not a question of a static experience but rather one that is carried away by the movement.
