For its first participation to ART-O-RAMA, Galerie Laurent Godin is delighted to present a group exhibition by three artists that are representative of the gallery program since its opening in 2005.
Student of Katharina Grosse at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, Paul Czerlitzki (born in 1986) resided at the Cité internationale des arts in 2013 and was awarded the German National Academic Foundation grant in 2011. Czerlitzki’s practice is questioning what still has to be known about image making through research in technological systems —digital objects, material objects, material becoming virtual—and yet remaining at a distance to both.
Born in 1963, Claude Closky developed his practice around media codes of representation. Using drawing, collage, photography, painting and websites in order to methodically reorganize the signs that saturate our consumer society’s daily round, he diverts advertising slogans, fashion magazines clippings, brand logos and statistics in a way that points up the impact of media on our behavior.
Scoli Acosta was born in 1973 in Los Angeles where he lives and works today. Sculptor, painter, performer and installation artist, Scoli Acosta transforms images and objects gleaned from daily life, literature, mass culture, and dreams. His work is characterized by what he describes as an “aesthetic of resourcefulness”. Working with humble materials, produced with few resources and transparency with regards to their crafting, he constantly builds and rebuilds his visual vocabulary. His work is part of important international collections such as the LACMA Los Angeles, MoMA NYC, and the Rubbel Family Collection Miami.
