Nicolas Ackerman and Sophie Bueno-Boutellier

Resilience and Cope,

What is art about and what do we want it to be?

A mere platform to question authority? An expression to placate

differences? All of the above. What else?

Faced with the current state of affairs, it feels important to reassess these questions in the continual practice.

Artists react, or not, or affect change, or not, by reaffirming their

commitment to the cause, comes rain or shine, disease, divorce, despots.

What might empowers is the willingness to tackle the inner self, for betterment and truth.

These two artists continue their long journey of practice in their own ways, fiercely independent, always committed. A good studio visit is when there are hail stones pelting at the windows while inside there are candles burning, a lukewarm cup of tea and a steady hand.
