Gilles Drouault galerie, Paris

Johannes Sivertsen

For its second participation at Art-o-rama, Gilles Drouault Gallery proposes a solo exhibition of the artist Johannes Sivertsen. This solo exhibition is an opportunity to show the artist’s latest paintings.

Johanes Sivertsen is a painter, and his work inds its origin and principle in classical painting, which he has studied, and conceptual art, which remains the core of his inspiration. A classical painting in the preparation of the canvas, in the use of oils, in a technique of mastery that frees the artist from the incident, in his will to signify. A conceptual painting that does not seek to move, to please or to dazzle, but which, all signifying, shows us the very concept of painting.

It is clear that this exhibition of paintings does not seek to participate in a fashion, but on the contrary reminds us of what painting can do when its demands are far removed from emphatic peroration and decoration.

The reception given by the public to our irst participation, which was already a personal exhibition, and just as much that of the jury of Art-o-rama which awarded us a prize encourages us to the same exigency, to the same will to testify to an art guided by an ethic which is forged in the course of the works.
