Fondation Thalie, Brussels

Elise Peroi

Fondation Thalie is at once an exhibition space, a residency and a publishing house. Its mission is to support contemporary creation and to encourage dialogue between disciplines, particularly between crafts and artistic practices. To this end, it has been organising residencies in Brussels since 2017 and, from 2023, in its new space in Arles. Within this space, it welcomes artists and writers whose work, at the edge of these disciplines, is linked to the social and political issues of this century.

To mark its installation in the South of France, the Fondation Thalie presents at Art-o-rama one of its first Arles residents, Elise Peroi, who carry out visual research work around tapestry.

Elise Peroi’s pieces are inspired by ancestral techniques of weaving, tapestry and the so called textile arts, for which the notion of the gesture, of making, is as important as the result.
