Antoine Conde
For this new edition of Art-O-Rama, DS Galerie is pleased to present a solo show by the artist Antoine Conde. This proposal, specially conceived for Art-O-Rama follows on from his first solo exhibition “YOU LEFT A MARK ON MY SCREEN” presented in March 2025. This third application for Art-O-Rama also extends the gallery’s involvement in the fair, and in the theoretical and architectural reflection on the standard booth model made possible by the open plan offered by the fair.
Published in 1972, “Learning from Las Vegas” by Denise Scott Brown and Robert Venturi marks a turning point in architectural thinking by outlining postmodernism, a new reflexive, aesthetic and manifest paradigm. By studying the case of Las Vegas and its Strip, they champion the vernacular and typically American commercial landscape made up of signs, over-symbols and ornaments to the point of excess. And they theorise, among other things, the figure of the billboard as a component of the decorated hangar.
A child of the late 1990s, Antoine Conde draws on the world of pop culture, documentaries, reality TV and gay porn films. He captures images, composes them and assembles them to create the narrative and visual frameworks of these drawings, flirting with the aesthetics of editing, music videos and posters. His practice extends from drawing to installation.
This booth is at the intersection of this reflection on the commercial architecture of the booth and on our saturated contemporary imagery.
