Fondation Maeght

Friendships, Bonnard-Matisse

June 29 to October 6, 2024

Henri Matisse, Pierre Bonnard,

France’s first foundation for modern and contemporary art, the Fondation Maeght will celebrate its sixtieth anniversary in the summer of 2024. Created in 1964 by art dealers, publishers and lithographers Marguerite and Aimé Maeght, it was inaugurated in Saint-Paul-de-Vence by André Malraux and immediately recognized as a public utility. This anniversary will be marked by a major summer exhibition, “Amitiés, Bonnard-Matisse”, the inauguration of new exhibition rooms dedicated this year to the permanent collection, and a month of celebrations with concerts, dance performances, readings and more.

“I have so many memories of these two twentieth-century geniuses whose work profoundly marked the history of art. These memories resonate particularly today as we celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Marguerite and Aimé Maeght Foundation. – Adrien Maeght, Amitiés, Bonnard-Matisse, exhibition catalog, Editions Fondation Maeght 2024
