2013

New Galerie, Paris

For ART-O-RAMA 2013, New Galerie proposes a group show by two emerging artists: Dan Rees (1982), Florian Schmidt (1980). Based in Berlin, both share a common interest in questioning the status of today’s artwork .

This question takes different forms: through the recycling of parts of his own existing works (Schmidt) or through contextualizing the works through several displays (Dan Rees).

If the starting point of the different practices is a will to animate the different meanings an artwork can have, Dan Rees and Florian Schimdt do it through material objects, where the ambiguity is encapsulated in the materiality of the artwork.
