2015

Micheline Szwajcer, Brussels

For this 2015 edition of ART-O-RAMA, Brussels-based gallery Micheline Szwajcer will present a solo show by Belgian artist Koenraad Dedobeleer (Halle, 1975).

Koenraad Dedobeleer’s work operates as a mock of functional objects. Settled in this exhibition context, those sculptures, once set free from their original functions, are existing as ambiguous stands; then they happen to be available for interpretation. With a touch of irony, the artists’ objects seem to be in an indecision mood thus causing a multitude of possibilities and ideas’ associations.

For ART-O-RAMA, he will question the blended status of this fair, which is a merchant place of art and at the same time an exhibition place with curatorial projects. By placing a window display in the front of the stand, it will create for the visitor the feeling to be in a shop and will recreate all the movements they normally do in shops. With the particularity that this shop takes place into an exhibition environment, where pieces of art are valued. The artist takes his inspiration from the Kabinett fur aktuelle Kunst by Bremen, whose frontage looks like a shop window.
