Mécènes du Sud, Marseille

Antoine Espinasseau

Since the creation of the Art-O-Rama contemporary art fair, Mécènes du Sud Aix-Marseille, an economic actors collective, has committed to its side and, for the last 7 years, has been presenting solo works among its artists winners.

This year, Mécènes du Sud invites Antoine Espinasseau, whose project extends to Studio Littledancer. il présente « Au quatrième mur » (at the forth wall), a project through which he questions what makes an exhibition and how, by creating a sculpture halfway through architecture, renew the experience of an exhibition. “This project is not about what to see but about how to see.”

Antoine Espinasseau was the Mécènes du Sud Aix-Marseille laureate in 2014 for the project “Une Île” (An Island) a work in the public space, which takes the appearance of a safe anchored on the dike of the beach of the Prophet in Marseille, facing off the coast. It was installed in 2016 discreetly, to respect the mystery it embodies.

He follows Art-O-rama for the following laureates: Moussa Sarr (2013), Alexander Schellow (2014), Anne-Valérie Gasc (2015), Özlem Sulak (2016) ), Berdaguer & Péjus (2017) and Étienne Rey (2018).
