Ghebaly Gallery, Los Angeles

For ART-O-RAMA 2017, Los Angeles-based Ghebaly gallery presents a group show with three artists represented by the gallery: Candice Lin, Patrick Jackson, and Mike Kuchar.

Candice Lin (b. 1979 in Concord, Massachusetts) lives and works in Los Angeles. Successor of the humanist movement, her practice revolves around anthropoligical, philosophic and scientific research. By means of mixed-media installations (sculpture, video) she shows her own theory of evolution by revisiting the notion of earthly body while studying procreation.

Mike Kuchar (b. 1942 in New York City) lives and works in San Francisco. Fascinated by movies and Marvels, he follows on the Pop Art movement with a series of paintings where mythological heroes become the main characters of erotic sceneries.

Patrick Jackson (b. 1978 in Los Angeles) lives and works in Los Angeles. In his sculptures, more particularly those of the exhibition “Drawing and Relief”, he uses artistic and urbanistic codes. Through his works, the artist recreates an architecture that does not exist. Jackson refers to the beginning of the Modernist movement through the use of materials such as ceramics and terracotta while also adressing conceptual issues.
