Oshay Green
Dallas-based self-taught artist Oshay Green creates immersive installations and sculptures inspired by West African religion, metaphysics, voudon beliefs and jazz. His works, made from modest materials such as discarded fabrics and bits of metal, evoke mysticism and spirituality, inviting viewers to engage their senses and contemplate themes of creation, death and rebirth.
Green’s improvisational approach, influenced by jazz artists such as Pharaoh Sanders and Sun Ra, allows him to explore freedom and liberation in his creative process. His works often reflect personal experiences and cultural cultural influences. Through experimentation, Oshay Green transforms everyday objects into powerful symbols, inviting viewers to explore new creative territories and contemplate their own contemplate their own narratives in her artworks.
