Crèvecoeur, Paris
For their fourth participation in ART-O-RAMA, Paris-based gallery Crèvecoeur will present a group show gathering several French and international artists of the gallery: Julien Carreyn, Renaud Jerez, Than Hussein Clark, Adriana Minoliti, and Jorge Pedro Núñez.
“Salon d’été” (Summer Room) is a project that has been imagined as a domestic environment, exclusively consisting of artworks which aspect refer to home furniture. Those artworks play with their decorative aspect as well as their immediate relation to the visitor’s body in order to connect everyone’s intimacy with the exhibition space. The immersive aspect activates the consumption/use instinct of those objects/artworks some of which are rendered unserviceable.
Home is conceived in accordance with human needs and adapt itself to the body’s specificities. Security areas, intimacy spaces, the inhabited space is the everyday life territory. As opposed to public and collective spaces, home is the territory of personal expression, where a person’s or a small group’s interiority becomes visible.
It evolves with time, according to technological progress and cultural influences, or in other words according to technique and trend. Just like a real living room, wich functional state remains unclear, Crèvecoeur booth’s layout will have no walls and will consist of artworks which explicitally refer to furniture: two sofas, two chairs, a screen, a table, and a pillow.
