L’atelier des artistes en exil presents the work of four of its member artists: Glam Gargoyle, Yadanar Win, Artyom Go and Şener Yılmaz Aslan.
Glam Gargoyle’s Utopian Body watercolor series evokes mutation and pleasure. The artist explores the fluidity and transformation of the human form, questioning the boundaries of identity and celebrating the diversity of sensory experience.
Through an installation of drawings in the form of badges, Yadanar Win seeks to honor and publicize the heroism of Burmese women activists, particularly those who were detained, tortured or lost their lives because of their commitment against the 2021 coup. Yadanar Win will also present Voices of Rebirth on August 30 at 6pm, a stroll dedicated to five women victims of repression.
Artyom Go draws inspiration from the New Realism movement to create works, blending take-off and abstraction, that question visual propaganda and censorship, particularly through the prism of his experience of life in Russia.
Şener Yılmaz Aslan’s photographic project Remziye follows the journey of Remziye, a Syrian transgender refugee woman, as she struggles to rebuild her life in France, after facing widespread racist and transphobic violence in Turkey.
