Associated project – Documents d’Artistes, Marseille

Sandra Hauser

For Artorama 2026, Documents d’artistes PACA is pleased to present the work of artist Sandra Hauser.

Sandra Hauser’s artistic production and personal life are closely intertwined. Developing a conceptual body of work that unfolds through installation, sculpture, performance, video, and drawing, the artist focuses on creating forms rooted in personal events, which find, through their “translation,” a materiality that allows them to be apprehended. The work is thus concerned with repairing trauma and diverting economic, social, or psychological forms of violence.

For Artorama, within the commercial context of the art fair, Sandra Hauser presents her series Unpaid Bill Drawings — drawings made on her own unpaid invoices, which can be acquired for the exact amount of the corresponding debt (between 10 and 19,590.08 euros), with payment made directly to the creditor. As founder of the UBD Group, the artist also invites anyone wishing to share their most urgent unpaid bill to send it to her. She then transforms it through drawing and publishes it on a dedicated website (www.unpaid-bill-drawings.com), where it is likewise offered for acquisition.

In addition, Documents d’artistes PACA will present Electric Cowgirl, a filmed portrait revisiting I Would Prefer Not To, a large-scale project developed in collaboration with a stallion (Don Orèo), acquired by the artist thanks to the Steiner Foundation in Munich, with whom she notably creates performances.

Electric Cowgirl is part of the “Détours” collection, films produced by Documents d’artistes PACA. It was directed by Vincent Pajot with the support of the Région Sud, through its Carte Blanche program.
