Crossing epochs, categories and geographies, this project will be presented as a poetic portrait of Marseille’s heritage collections, in different chapters that reflect their many identities and the ways in which the scientific teams of the Musées de Marseille view them. Painting, sculpture, decorative arts, fashion, design, contemporary creation and archaeology will all be examined, through the prism of territorial issues, the trajectories of objects, individuals and cultures, post-colonial relations and gender, at the whim of art history. With the ambition of encouraging the rediscovery and appropriation of the collections by the public, this exhibition will be accompanied by participative projects aimed at as many people as possible.
