Le Monde Möo, Moodoïd’s debut album, celebrates ten years of magic and friendship
In 2014, the world discovered the planet Moodoïd. The singles Je suis la montagne and De folie pure invade the airwaves, supported by clips as singular as the project’s musical universe. All signed by their mastermind, Pablo Padovani, who creates a psychedelic universe as musical as it is pictorial. Ten years on, the musician-director invites all those who have accompanied his project for a creative tribute. From image to sound, Le Monde Möö on its tenth anniversary becomes a shapeshifting object in the hands of creators from diverse universes: a revisited album and new works inspired by it offer the ideal setting for this anniversary.
On the music side, long-time friends (François Atlas, Paul Prier, Turzi and David Numwami) rub shoulders with musicians they’ve met on tour (Jerge from the group PPJ, or the rock combo MNNQNS with whom Moodoïd toured France in 2018), as well as new and future collaborators (Darwin Experience, Madge, Ma Biche, LEGIT GIRL DJ). What they all have in common is their adherence, in their respective styles, to Moodoïsian sounds: a sense of melody borrowed from psychedelic rock, mixed with catchy pop melodies. The result is songs reimagined with a nostalgia that’s enlightened without being backward-looking, where each revisits the moody atmosphere of the Monde Möo, from FM rock to romantic piano, via remixes that restore Moodoïd’s danceable vocation.
On the visual side: Pablo invited ten artists – visual artists, designers, sculptors, etc. – to create works evoking each of the songs on the album. – to create works evoking each song on the album. Subtly integrating an element of Moodoïd’s lyrics, aesthetic or musical universe, these works replace the traditional record sleeve with decorative objects. 10 vinyl copies of the album are inserted, blending art sculpture and pop culture. Each work plays with a specific material (wood, metal, rock…), symbolizing the importance of the elements – fire, water, earth – that give Moodoïd’s music its airy sensibility.
Le Monde Möö 1Ö Years was presented in all its forms and previewed in Marseille at the end of May in an ephemeral gallery, as well as at the Théâtre de l’Oeuvre, where Moodoïd – accompanied by the band’s original live line-up (Clémence Lasme on bass, Clément Bourlier on drums) and surprise guests – gave a concert dedicated to tracks from its debut album. An exhibition catalog limited to 100 signed copies was published for the occasion.
