In 2025, the Museums of Marseille are inviting artist Laure Prouvost. For the chapel of the Centre de la Vieille Charité, the artist is designing a monumental installation inspired by the architecture of the place and the voices of its past and present inhabitants.
The Museums of Marseille are continuing their tradition of inviting internationally renowned contemporary artists to design original works for the chapel of the Centre de la Vieille Charité. This historic site, with its unique architecture, hosts innovative projects every year that engage with its past and spirit.
Laure Prouvost captures the soul of the chapel to create a monumental visual and sound installation. Conceived as a maternal and fertile figure, her poetic work is inspired by the architecture of the place and the history of the generations who have inhabited it, from centuries past to the inhabitants of today’s Panier neighborhood.
