les inégalités constantes des jours de leonor*

From June 7 to August 31, 2025

Artist : Leonor Antunes

Exhibtion curator : Leonor Antunes, Marie Cozee et Rita Fabiana

The exhibition was conceived and produced by CAM – Centre d’Art Moderne de la Fondation Gulbenkian, Lisbon, under the curatorship of Rita Fabiana. It was supported by the Gulbenkian Foundation Delegation in France.

les inégalités constantes des jours de leonor* is a new sculptural installation by Leonor Antunes (b. 1972, Lisbon), spread over six rooms on the ground floor of Crac Occitanie.

For over 25 years, Leonor Antunes has been developing a body of sculptural suspensions that inhabit architecture, while at the same time proposing a critical re-reading of places and their histories. At Crac, the public is invited to wander freely through a forest of objects that blend the register of sculpture with that of the decorative arts, ornamentation and scenographic furniture, breaking down conventional categories between art, design and architecture, while offering a critical rereading of places and their histories.

les inégalités constantes des jours de leonor* is a re-adaptation of the exhibition presented in Lisbon. The title has been translated into French, followed by an asterisk to indicate that it is a quotation. Leonor Antunes has taken the title from a drawing by Portuguese artist, filmmaker, writer and poet Ana Hatherly (1929 – 2015).

It contains Leonor Antunes’ first name and was made in 1972, the year of her birth, a biographical coincidence that reinforces the deep, intimate bond she has with Hatherly. Hatherly’s drawing is a tangle of words whose density makes the text barely legible. The text becomes matter in a radically poetic and moving relationship with language.

In Lisbon, in parallel with the installation of her works, Leonor Antunes curated an exhibition based on the CAM collection, a selection of works dedicated exclusively to the women artists in this collection, some of which were shown for the first time since their acquisition.
