Born into an old Marseilles family, Marius Bar, after a long apprenticeship in Toulon, opened a photography studio at number 15 Place Puget. The portraitist business and the contacts it brought him did not really correspond to his aesthetic ideal, so this dynamic photographer with a passion for images and light focused his professional life on two major themes: illustration and the navy.
