Saturday the 29th of August: Visite of the exhibitions and lunch at Friche la Belle de Mai in Marseille

On Saturday at 11:30 am, we will visit three exhibitions at La Friche la Belle de Mai presented as part of the Mediterranean Season, followed by lunch on the Friche rooftop terrace.

Abdessamad El Montassir’s solo exhibition “Sur les ruines, les pierres fleurissent” invites us to immerse ourselves in the desert and its silenced narratives, inhabited by human and non-human presences, buried memories, and disjointed temporalities. A living territory where plants, trees, mountains, sand, and wind become active witnesses in their own right, capable of preserving and transmitting what official History leaves in the shadows. An exhibition produced by Fræme.

The monographic exhibition “Jouer la montre” by Mona Benyamin, presented by Triangle-Astérides, features a new installation based on her research into the relationship between sound and power, alongside three earlier videos in which questions of memory and identity are embodied by her parents. Mona Benyamin’s work draws on television culture, and she uses humor and irony as political tools for critical reflection.

Presented for the first time in France, Zineb Sedira’s installation “Les rêves n’ont pas de titre”, originally conceived for the French Pavilion at the 59th edition of the Venice Biennale, for which the artist received the Jury’s Special Mention, has been adapted for the Panorama at La Friche la Belle de Mai. The installation includes a life-size cinema set screening the film Les rêves n’ont pas de titre, which explores the interaction between fiction and reality, with the artist assuming the roles of both performer and observer. Through an autobiographical narrative, she connects key moments of her life with broader geopolitical events, avant-garde cinema, and diasporic experiences.
