Armures I, II, III and IV are part of a series of engravings, watercolors and oils on canvas whose models are 3D digital files of clothing that can be purchased on the Internet to dress game characters.
While the hoodie has become a distinctive urban symbol, it retains its ambiguity and refers as much to adolescent spleen as to the anonymity of the homeless, perceived as ghostly beings in our cities refers as much to adolescent spleen as to the anonymity of the homeless, perceived as ghostly beings in our cities. These hollowed-out shapes are both the hollowed-out presence of these bodies and what protects them from the outside world.
The figurative dimension of the motif (cf. Jean François Lyotard / Discours, Figure, 1971) is underpinned by the naturalness of what emerges on paper using the anachronistic means of intaglio engraving.
Echoing urban and political themes, the materiality of these images is ultimately the only tangible thing on which our gaze is projected and questioned.
