Château La Coste, Le Puy Sainte Réparade

Cyrielle Gulacsy

For its second participation at Art-O-Rama, Château La Coste is delighted to be collaborating with artist Cyrielle Gulacsy, who has chosen to revisit her practice through silkscreen research.

“I’d like to use printing to think up a work that can only exist and be created through this technique, or at least that would be magnified by the printing technique used.
Here, by making just 6 layers from brush drawings, we can create a multitude of possible associations and create a polyptych where each print is different.” Cyrielle Gulacsy

Cyrielle Gulacsy conceived silkscreen printing as the very essence of this project, and around a reflection that could not have been carried out by painting. Using 6 silkscreen screens made up of dots of different colors, she produced 28 works (edition of 25 + 3 artist proofs) following a precise assembly logic, which differs for each print. Produced in collaboration with Tchikebe, a silkscreen workshop based in Marseille, these prints are then enhanced by the artist, who adds acrylic dots by hand. The grid layout, specially designed for Art-O-Rama, produces a vibrating effect on the composition, allowing the project to be presented in the form of pieces that interact with each other or can be dissociated.

These vibrations of colored dots are the source of Cyrielle Gulacsy’s work. The abstract effect of her compositions, however, refers to a scientific dimension, towards the representation of an imperceptible reality. For this project, the artist chose colors associated with the spectrum of light, as a representation of its decomposition, of the photons that make it up. Dots are a central motif in her practice, evoking the particles at the origin of the world, those that make up the infinitely small and the infinitely large, present in living organisms as in celestial objects, on earth and at the far reaches of the universe. In this way, Cyrielle Gulacsy establishes links between art and science, embodying an elusive reality, and expressing sensitively and poetically the movements of matter and the essence of all things.

Alongside these silkscreens, two original works by the artist are presented in collaboration with Galerie Anne Sarah Benichou, to give visitors a better understanding of Cyrielle Gulacsy’s work and the thinking that went into this project with Château La Coste.
