ANTIQUE BAUHAUS
La peau de l’ours presents Antique Bauhaus a solo exhibition by ceramist François Bauer.
The exhibition will explore the relationship between drawing and design, between image and object.
Bauer’s pieces are assemblages of planes and surfaces. Once assembled, these objects become new supports on which the artist brings together line and color.
The exhibition calls on a field of plastic research closely linked to the history of art and the image.
In François Bauer practice, drawing, color and collage are central. After studying graphic and object design, he turned to ceramics in 2017.
His work explores the relationship between drawing and design, between image and object. As such, he extends this idea of drawing to the whole of his practice.
These pieces are an assemblage of planes and surfaces that he fixes. These planes are then as many pieces with which he plays. They are also new supports on which to develop color and line, and make them cohabit.
Collage and juxtaposition are omnipresent in his creative process. In this way, François’ pieces evoke a field of plastic research closely linked to the history of art and the image, which meets a history of objects and ceramics that he is particularly fond of.
