In the artists Tchikebe presents this year, color enters the realm of dissent.
In Alix Delmas’s Valses Anthropométrique series, color is formal and poignant. By coloring the past, the Bayonne-born artist introduces disorder and highlights points of contact. As both an actor and spectator of light, the power of pigment sheds light on the facts and, at the same time, eludes the attempt to classify people and their crimes: it is a link between these details from the Archives of the Préfecture de Police in Paris, creating a rhythm between the different elements of the series.
For Olivier Mosset, however, color is a truly reactive material: it becomes a chameleon. Shunning all signifiers, it disguises itself when one tries to capture or seize it, and by forcing its audience to move from left to right to capture its variations, it reverses roles and becomes the puppeteer. The iridescent character of the series by this founding artist of the BMPT group pushes it to its incandescence.
Opposite them, a swarm of colored dots, like so many possible incarnations of color virtuosity, proposed by Olivier Millagou and Bertrand Lacombe, completes our proposal.
