We invite you to visit the studio of artist Nicolas Pincemin, featured on Art-o-rama with Atelier Visà-vis in the Edition & Design section.
Nicolas Pincemin was born in Besançon in 1976. He lives and works in Marseille. He attended the Ecole Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Strasbourg and then the Fine Arts faculty in Aix/Marseille. With painting as his preferred medium, he seems to treat the image in a traditional, objective way. But on closer inspection, our gaze is carried away by optical effects and travels through wooded landscapes in which foreign elements intrude. The artist stages the act of painting itself through a fusion of the abstract and the figurative. Nicolas Pincemin’s canvases also feature abstract elements that integrate or superimpose themselves on the image. Creating planes or underlining depths, these motifs completely reorganize the reading process, revealing that the artist paints like others make collages. Plane upon plane, element upon element, his work is constructed as a dialogue between heterogeneous elements that resonate with one another, thus distorting the image and permanently distracting from the tranquility of the landscape.
His studio is located rue Farjon, near St Charles train station.
