sans titre, Paris x Ilenia, London

Romain Sarrot & Daria Blum

For Art-o-rama 2025, Sans titre (Paris) joins forces with Ilenia (London) to present a duo show bringing together the work of Romain Sarrot (b. 1986, Paris, France) and Daria Blum (b. 1992, Lucerne, Switzerland). This collaborative project reflects the longstanding friendship and mutual trust between the two galleries, and aligns with the spirit of Art-o-rama, whose intimate format encourages curatorial dialogues, invitations, and cross-gallery initiatives.

Romain Sarrot’s work explores notions of excavation, memory, and transformation. In an immersive installation composed of aluminium rails, engraved plexiglass scores, clay bones, polyurethane walnut shells, and silicone slugs, the artist constructs a symbolic underground landscape. Like a silent opera, this mineral composition evokes the slow resurfacing of buried fragments. Industrial and organic materials unfold in a horizontal rhythm reminiscent of musical notation or fragmentary narrative.

Daria Blum’s practice spans video, music, photography and performance. Trained as a dancer, she stages her own body in narrative installations populated by fictional characters, digital alter-egos and cultural stereotypes. Her work examines the staging of the self, artifice, and body politics within a media-saturated culture. Through a humorous yet critical approach, she probes the shifting terrain between sincerity and caricature, the intimate and the constructed.

While working in distinct registers, both artists engage with forms of bodily trace, fragmented narration, and ritual. Their practices share a concern with the circulation of memory, its reinvention and inscription—whether in material or gesture.

Romain Sarrot is a self-taught artist. He lives and works in Paris. His work has been shown at the Musée d’Art et d’Histoire in Geneva (2024), the Dom Museum in Vienna (2019), High Art in Paris, Lokal-Int in Bienne, Artbeat Gallery in Tbilisi, Alan Koppel in Chicago, and VITRINE Gallery in London. He has participated in residencies at Palazzo Monti (Brescia, 2021) and Las Cicadas in the Balearic Islands (2024), in a program curated by Sarah Suco Torres. In 2024, he presented the performance Après quoi les limbes (MASSWASCUT) at the MAH in Geneva, and his large-scale sculpture Piper in the Wood was acquired by the City of Alfortville for its public collection.

Daria Blum graduated from the Royal Academy Schools in London (2023). She has recently performed at Tate Modern (2025), Roskilde Festival (2023), V.O Curations, Rose Easton and Fitzrovia Chapel. Her work has been exhibited at the MAXXI Museum in Rome (as part of a collaboration with Il Colorificio), the Latvian National Museum of Art in Riga, Piccadilly Circus (CIRCA Class of 2022), and at CAPC Musée d’Art Contemporain in Bordeaux. She has participated in several residencies, including Youkobo Art Space (Tokyo), and the Magnetic Residency Program at CAPC Musée d’Art Contemporain (Bordeaux, France) with the support of Fluxus Art Projects.
