Océane Pilette with Atelier Canebe and Antoine Seguin

As a major cultural event, art-o-rama is once again opening its doors to design, with Marseille Design Méditerranée once again invited to take part. With a dedicated space at the heart of this major event marking the cultural life of Marseilles for an extended weekend, we are delighted to present two designers: Océane Pilette with Atelier Canebe and Antoine Seguin, both updating forgotten materials from local crafts or construction to make everyday objects.

Trained in product design in Blois, then graduating with honors with a master’s degree from ESADMM, Océane Pilette has developed a practice and artistic vision situated between design, art, and crafts. Her approach is rooted in a sensitive exploration of materials, particularly hempcrete, which she works with using a slow, sensitive, and experimental process. Founded in Marseille, Atelier Canebe embodies this vision: to create poetic, sustainable, and local objects, promoting the region’s natural resources and history. The studio’s name, inspired by the Canebière river and the Provençal word “canebe”, reaffirms this connection between materials, collective memories, and contemporary creation.

Antoine Seguin’s practice lies at the intersection of research and design, exploring the social and environmental impacts of our objects and uses. By exploring the materials and expertise specific to our region, he strives to bring out aesthetics of a sobriety that we recognize in accordance with environmental challenges we face.

Inviting these two designers provides a wonderful opportunity to introduce ourselves, volunteers of the Marseille Design Méditerranée association, as well as all the activities we conduct in support of design and its professionals.
