Laia Arqueros Claramunt
In her practice, the artist Laia Arqueros Claramunt explores mythology, identity, and political commentary, reclaiming the suppressed feminine voice through ceramics, sound sculptures, illustration, and performance. Inspired by Mediterranean traditions, she reimagines ancient female rituals, particularly the ancient Greek religious festival Thesmophoria, as acts of resistance and empowerment.
Her concept of “Gynopia & Cerinea” critiques the historical erasure of women, featuring chimeric creatures that defy patriarchal discourse. Through sound and materiality, she transforms her ceramic instruments—such as Sistra, Xilófono de Corifeas, and Silbas Uterinas—into vessels of reclaimed female agency, using breath, rhythm, and resonance to challenge silence.
This booth immerses viewers into a living ritual, where history and myth converge. The space will echo the spirit of the Thesmophoria, with her sound sculptures and illustrations composing a dynamic environment. Curated especially for the fair, the booth becomes a participatory act of reclamation, reviving lost narratives and asserting the enduring power of the feminine voice.
